How do I calculate a discount and the final sale price?
Sale price = original price × (1 − discount ÷ 100). A ₹1,299 item at 40% off is ₹779.40. An extra 10% off is taken from the reduced price, giving ₹701.46: a combined 46% discount, not 50%. To find the discount from a sale price, divide the saving by the original price.
- Price after discount
- ₹779.4
- Final price
- ₹701.46
- Total discount
- 46.0%
Discounts stack on the reduced price: 40% then 10% is 46.0% off, not 50%. You save ₹597.54.

How to use it
- Enter the MRP or original price.
- Enter the discount, and any extra coupon or bank offer.
- Read the final price and the real combined discount.
- Or enter a sale price to see what % off it is.
Stacked discounts don’t add up
Two discounts multiply rather than add: 40% then 10% leaves 0.6 × 0.9 = 54% of the price, which is 46% off. Sellers planning sale prices should check the combined figure against their break-even price.
Before you run a sale
Marketplace fees are often a percentage of the selling price, so a deep discount can turn a profitable product into a loss. Run the sale price through the platform profit calculator first.
