What size should Shopify product images be?
Shopify recommends 2048×2048 pixel square images for product photos, which keep zoom sharp and make collection grids line up. Use the same ratio for every product in a store. This tool resizes photos to 2048×2048, padding with white so nothing is cropped, and downloads them in bulk.
Shopify: 1:1 ratio. Working spec, last checked October 2026; confirm in your seller panel.

Try one freeHow to use it
- Keep Shopify (2048×2048) selected.
- Pick pad or crop, and the same option for every product.
- Add your photos and download the ZIP.
- Compress them if your theme loads slowly.
One ratio for the whole store
Mixed ratios make collection pages ragged. Pick square or portrait for the whole catalogue; fashion stores often use 3:4 or 4:5 portrait instead of square, using the custom size option.
Speed matters
Shopify serves resized versions automatically, but very large originals still slow uploads and some themes. Running images through the image compressor keeps them light.
